Students are introduced to the museum's permanent exhibition, focusing on the role of chemistry in pharmacy. The various applications of chemistry are interactively demonstrated through practical examples, forming a visual idea of chemical processes.

Games in the Enchanted Garden

An informative tour of the museum and account of the history of pharmacies and the significance of apothecary gardens.

The event will deepen the participants' knowledge of medicinal plants and their use in medicine, as well as encourage skills of critical thinking, focusing particularly on the beneficial and hazardous properties of toxic plants native to Latvia.

During the summer, additional knowledge can be gained through spending time in the newly planted apothecary garden that features about a hundred different medicinal herbs.

The event concludes with stimulating conversations while enjoying a cup of herbal tea.

Following an exciting story of mysteries and discoveries through the centuries The tour invites to visit an ancient pharmacy, meet a medieval alchemist and take a look around his laboratory. Participants will learn exciting facts about the history of chemistry and pharmacy, as well as traditional medicine and its significance in everyday life.

The programme is available in several versions aimed at various audiences to present the information in the most suitable and fitting way for each age group.

Joy Therapy for a Healthy Lifestyle

A story of the significance of joy in human health and ways of increasing it through a healthy habits.

Students will learn how to make their life more joyful by maintaining healthy habits:

‒ balanced nutrition and adequate intake of water; drinking herbal teas;

‒ practicing physically active lifestyle and having sufficient rest;

‒ cultivating positive thinking.

To put the newly acquired knowledge into practice, children are asked to complete some tests revolving around the five senses. The activity is complemented by various games and exercises.

In the summer participants are offered an opportunity to listen in to the mysterious conversations of flowers.

Balsam as a Centuries-old Remedy

A tour of a medieval alchemist's laboratory offers an opportunity to learn the mystery of the elixir of eternal youth.

The tour is an exciting journey to the creation of Riga Black Balsam, the history and healing properties of the beverage. Participants will have a chance to look at the medicinal plants exhibited in the permanent exhibition and the museum garden and also sample some herbal teas and learn about their use in traditional medicine.

As the journey continues, we invite you to experience Latvian traditions of the black bathhouse also known as smoke bathhouse.

A Birthday at the Museum

We offer an opportunity to celebrate your birthday at the museum.

Depending on the age, wishes and interests of the birthday boy or girl, we propose a number of themed programmes.

During the celebratory tour, the guests not only view the exhibits and learn some new things about them, but also take part in various activities. The museum's alchemist will surprise them with his skills, and they will be served aromatic herbal tea.

A birthday at the museum is more than a way of having a good time; it is also an informative and valuable adventure.

At the conclusion of the tour, the birthday boy or girl and his or her guests can retire to a special room and feast on the treats they have brought along, celebrating the occasion according to their wishes.
